Why speed matters to your customers
Most people find a local business on their phone, often on a patchy connection. If your page takes more than a few seconds to show, a good share of them go back to Google and pick the next result.
Google measures the same thing and prefers faster sites when two are otherwise alike. The usual culprits are oversized photos and add-ons like chat widgets.

Is this Google's own speed test?
Yes. We use Google's official speed service and translate the result into plain language. The technical details show the same numbers Google publishes.
Why does my result change each time?
Every test is one visit, and the internet is a little different every time. Small changes are normal. Results here are kept for 10 minutes, so an immediate rerun shows the same answer.
Should I test phone or computer?
Phone first. Most customers visit on a phone, and Google judges your site by its phone version.
What usually makes a site slow?
Huge photos, too many add-ons (chat widgets, pop-ups, trackers) and slow hosting. Fixing the first two often halves the wait.
